How accurate is the automatic edge detection?
Auto-detect gives you a starting point based on the strongest edges it can find in the photo, which works well for a document on a plain, contrasting background but can miss the edges on busier backgrounds or low-contrast photos. Either way, you can always drag any of the 4 corner handles yourself for an exact result - that's the reliable part of this tool.
How does the perspective correction actually work?
It computes a projective transform that maps the quadrilateral you've placed over the document onto a clean rectangle, then resamples every pixel of the output from the original photo through that transform. It's the same underlying math flatbed "deskew" and document-scanning apps use, run entirely on canvas in your browser.
What does the Black & White filter do?
It converts the flattened image to grayscale and boosts contrast, which tends to make printed text look crisper and more "scanned," similar to a mobile scanning app's document mode. Color keeps the original colors if you'd rather not apply it.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything - edge detection, corner dragging, perspective correction and the filter - runs locally on canvas in your browser. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
