Frequently asked questions
Is my image or text sent anywhere?
When you click Translate image (or Extract text only), the image is sent to a free AI vision model to read the text out of it - it is not stored afterward. The extracted text (not the image) is then sent to a free AI model to generate the translation, and is likewise not stored.
Can I fix mistakes in the extracted text before translating?
Yes, the extracted text box is editable. Fix any mistakes there before hitting translate, since the translation is only as good as the text it's given.
Why did text extraction return nothing or get some words wrong?
Extraction accuracy depends a lot on image quality, low resolution, tilted photos, handwriting or unusual fonts can all trip it up. "Text in image is" is just a hint for the AI, picking the right one (or leaving it on Auto-detect) can help on ambiguous or low-quality images, but it won't fix a genuinely unreadable photo.
How many languages does this support?
This tool currently supports 20 languages as both source and target - including English, French, Spanish, German, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Hindi, Korean, Dutch, Turkish, Polish, Vietnamese, Thai, Indonesian, Swedish and Greek - plus automatic source-language detection.
Can I download the translation?
Yes. Once your text is translated, a Download .txt button appears next to the Copy button, so you can save the result as a plain text file without retyping or taking a screenshot.
