Frequently asked questions
Is my image or text sent anywhere?
When you click Extract text, the image is sent to a free AI vision model to read the text out of it, it is not stored afterward. Once you click Translate, only the extracted text (not the image) is sent to generate that one translation, also using a free AI model, and is likewise not stored.
Can I fix mistakes in the extracted text before translating?
Yes, the extracted text box is editable. Fix any mistakes there before hitting translate, since the translation is only as good as the text it's given.
Why did text extraction return nothing or get some words wrong?
Extraction accuracy depends a lot on image quality, low resolution, tilted photos, handwriting or unusual fonts can all trip it up. "Text in image is" is just a hint for the AI, picking the right one (or leaving it on Auto-detect) can help on ambiguous or low-quality images, but it won't fix a genuinely unreadable photo.
