Which voices are available?
Whichever text-to-speech voices are already installed on your device/browser (Windows, Mac and Chrome OS all ship several by default). Voice quality and language options vary by device.
Will this work on a scanned PDF?
No, it reads text already embedded in the PDF; a scanned page has no text layer to read. Use the Image to Text tool on a screenshot of the scan first, then paste the result somewhere with text-to-speech.
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No, text extraction and speech both happen entirely in your browser, using pdf.js and the Web Speech API built into your browser.
