PDF URL to Markdown Converter
Paste a link to a PDF that's already hosted somewhere public - a research paper, a government filing, a company report - and get back clean Markdown with headings, lists and tables detected from the page layout. No need to download the file first and upload it somewhere else.
Must be a direct, publicly accessible link to a PDF file - a PDF on your own device isn't a URL. For a file you have locally, use the PDF to Markdown tool instead.

Frequently asked questions
Why does this need a URL instead of letting me upload a file?
This tool is built specifically for PDFs that are already publicly hosted somewhere - you paste the link and the server fetches it directly. If you have a PDF file on your own device instead, use this site's PDF to Markdown tool, which works from an upload rather than a URL.
Why did it fail to fetch my URL?
The link has to be a direct, publicly accessible PDF file - not a login-gated page, a preview page that just links to a PDF, or a private/internal document. Some sites also block automated fetches outright, which shows up as the same error.
Does this extract tables accurately?
Tables are detected from the PDF's layout, which works well for clearly-gridded tables but, like any automated extraction, can struggle with unusual or merged-cell layouts. Always double-check an extracted table against the source PDF before relying on it.
Is the PDF's content stored anywhere?
The URL you provide is sent to this tool's extraction provider to fetch and process the file server-side - it isn't stored by this site afterward. Only use this on PDFs you're comfortable being fetched by an external service, not on anything sensitive or private.
