Will images and slide design carry over to the PDF?
Yes. Each slide's shapes and pictures are read from the .pptx file's own XML - real position and size (not just text), text formatting (font size, bold, color), embedded images, and the slide's background color - and redrawn at the same relative position on a PDF page sized to match your slide's actual width/height ratio.
Is the text in the PDF selectable, or is it an image of the slide?
It's real, selectable/searchable PDF text, not a flattened picture of the slide - drawn at each text box's actual position and wrapped to fit it. The trade-off is that only a standard Latin font set is used, so text outside that range (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, Hindi/Devanagari, emoji, etc.) shows as "?" placeholders instead of the original characters. Latin-script languages, including accented characters, render correctly.
What doesn't carry over?
Charts, tables, SmartArt diagrams and embedded objects aren't part of the simple shape/text/image structure this reads, so they're skipped rather than reconstructed. Line wrapping is an approximation, not PowerPoint's own text engine, so exact line breaks can differ slightly from the original. Animations and slide transitions don't apply to a static PDF and are also skipped.
Does it support older .ppt files?
No, only the modern .pptx format (PowerPoint 2007 and later) is supported. If you have an older .ppt file, save it as .pptx from PowerPoint first.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No, this runs entirely in your browser, reading the .pptx as a zip archive with JSZip and building the PDF locally with pdf-lib. Nothing is sent to a server.
