Frequently asked questions
How accurate is the summary?
It's generated by an AI model reading the extracted text, which can miss details, misread context, or occasionally get something wrong. Treat it as a fast starting point, not a substitute for reading the original document when accuracy matters.
What's the difference between short and detailed?
Short gives you 6-10 skimmable bullet points covering only the most important information. Detailed gives you a handful of full paragraphs covering the document's key points, context and conclusions in more depth.
What happens with very long PDFs?
Long documents are split into sections, each summarized into dense factual notes, then those notes are combined into one final summary in the style you picked - it's not just cut off after the first page or two. Extremely long documents are still capped at an overall size limit, in which case the tool tells you only the first part was summarized.
Does this work on scanned PDFs?
Only if the PDF already has a text layer. Purely image-only scanned PDFs have no extractable text - run them through the Add OCR Text Layer tool first, then use this tool on the result.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
Text is extracted from the PDF in your browser first. Only that plain text (not the file itself) is sent to a free AI model to generate the summary, and it isn't stored afterward.
