Does this guarantee my resume will pass an ATS, or get me an interview?
No. Every ATS (applicant tracking system) parses documents differently, and this tool doesn't test your file against any real one. It flags common, well-documented issues worth reviewing - like tables, multi-column layouts, or a missing text layer - not a guarantee of ATS pass-through or a job offer.
How is the overall score calculated?
It's a plain count: how many of the deterministic checks below (length, the four standard section headings, and the ATS-parsing-risk checks) came back "pass", shown as a fraction and a percentage. It's not an AI-invented number, and the AI writing-quality suggestions aren't included in it, since judging phrasing quality is a subjective call, not a pass/fail check.
What file types can I upload?
PDF, Word (.docx), or an image (JPG/PNG). For an image, this tool runs OCR in your browser first so it has text to check - but a real ATS won't do that OCR step for you, so a real text-based PDF or Word file is always the safer choice for an actual application.
How does it detect ATS-parsing risk without access to real ATS software?
By checking the file's own structure: for a PDF, it looks at the real position of every text block and image on the page to spot side-by-side (multi-column or table-like) layouts and header/footer regions that repeat across pages; for a Word file, it reads the document's own XML for tables, multi-column sections, header/footer parts, and embedded font names. These are things known to cause real parsing problems in many ATS systems, not guesses.
Does the AI-assisted writing pass invent achievements or numbers for me?
No. It's explicitly instructed to never invent a metric, percentage, employer, job title, or achievement that isn't already in your text. It can only rephrase wording that's already there, or suggest you add a number using a placeholder like "[quantify: e.g. by X%]" - the same discipline used by the Resume Bullet Point Rewriter tool.
Is my resume uploaded or stored anywhere?
The file itself is read and analyzed entirely in your browser. Only the plain extracted text (never the original file) is sent to a free AI model for the writing-quality pass, and it isn't stored afterward.
