Video to GIF

Turn a short clip of a video into a GIF (up to 15 seconds), entirely in your browser.

常见问题

Why is there a 15-second limit?

GIFs get large fast: more seconds and a higher frame rate both multiply the file size. 15 seconds keeps the output a reasonable size for sharing on chat apps and social platforms, many of which have their own GIF size or duration limits anyway.

Why does it need to download something on first use?

Video conversion runs on a real video engine (ffmpeg) compiled to WebAssembly, about 25MB, fetched once from a public CDN the first time you use this tool and cached by your browser after that. Nothing else on the site needs this, so it's not loaded until you actually use this tool.

Is my video uploaded to a server?

No, conversion runs entirely inside your browser using ffmpeg.wasm. Your video file is never uploaded anywhere.

My video is slow to convert, why?

Browser-based video conversion is inherently slower than a native app since it runs in WebAssembly, not compiled machine code. Larger source files, longer clips and higher frame rates all increase conversion time.
