Can this remove a password I don't know?
No, and it's not designed to try. This tool is strictly for PDFs you already have the password to - it only ever attempts to open the file with the exact password you type in, and shows a clear error if it's wrong. It does not guess, brute-force or otherwise attempt to bypass a password you don't know.
Will the output PDF's text still be selectable?
No. The libraries available for this can decrypt and render an encrypted PDF's pages given the correct password, but can't re-save the decrypted file with its original text layer intact. So each page is rendered as a high-quality image and rebuilt into a new, unprotected PDF - readable and printable, but the text is no longer selectable, copyable or searchable.
Is my PDF or password sent to a server?
No. Unlocking, rendering and rebuilding the PDF all happen locally in your browser - neither the file nor the password you type ever leaves your device.
