Why can't a browser do a DNS lookup directly?
Browsers only resolve DNS internally to load pages, they don't expose an API to query arbitrary record types for any domain. This tool runs the lookup server-side using Node's DNS resolver instead.
Why do I see no MX records for some domains?
Not every domain has mail configured, if there are no MX records, that domain simply doesn't receive email directly (or uses a different mechanism entirely).
How fresh are these results?
Each lookup queries live, it's not cached, though DNS itself involves caching layers between your request and the authoritative server (TTL-dependent) that this tool doesn't control.
