Why convert PNG to SVG instead of just using the PNG?
SVG is resolution-independent, it scales to any size with no pixelation, unlike a PNG which gets blurry when enlarged. That matters most for logos, icons and print materials.
Will transparency in my PNG be preserved?
Transparent areas are treated as their own traced region rather than a true alpha channel, since this is a color-tracing algorithm, not a pixel-level converter. For a PNG with a clean transparent background, this generally still looks correct.
My PNG has smooth, anti-aliased edges - will those trace cleanly?
By default, yes: the Balanced edge-detail setting automatically filters out the tiny speckle paths that anti-aliased edges can otherwise produce. If your source PNG has very fine intentional detail, try Fine detail instead, it keeps more of that nuance at the cost of some extra edge noise.
Is my PNG uploaded to a server?
No, tracing happens entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
