Does this use AI?
No - this tool uses deterministic text-pattern matching on the PDF's extracted text (looking for things like "Signature:", "Sign here", an "X_____" line, or a run of underscores), not an AI guess. In testing, pattern matching found real signature fields reliably without needing an AI pass, and it's faster and more consistent for this specific, structural task.
Can it miss a signature field?
Yes. If a document phrases its signature area unusually, or if the PDF has no extractable text layer at all (a scanned image with no OCR), this tool won't find anything to flag. Try the Add OCR Text Layer tool first on scanned documents.
Why are some results listed separately as "other mentions"?
Those are lines that just contain the word "signature" without a clear field marker (like a colon or a blank line) - worth a glance, but less likely to be an actual field to sign than the results in the main list.
Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?
No. Text extraction and pattern matching both happen entirely in your browser using pdf.js - nothing is sent to a server.
