الأسئلة الشائعة
Is an EOB a bill?
No. This is one of the most common points of confusion with EOBs, and it's worth repeating: an Explanation of Benefits is not a bill. It's a summary your insurer sends after processing a claim, showing what was billed, what the plan paid, and what portion (if any) it says you're responsible for. If you actually owe money, your provider - not your insurer - will send a separate bill or statement, which can differ from the EOB.
Is this medical or insurance advice?
No. This tool only reads and reformats what's already printed on your EOB into plain language. It doesn't give medical, legal, financial, or insurance advice, and it doesn't tell you whether a charge, denial, or amount is correct.
Does it check whether my insurer processed the claim correctly?
No. It doesn't verify coverage, coding, medical necessity, or whether the amounts follow your plan's actual terms. If something looks wrong, contact your insurer or plan administrator directly - this tool only summarizes what the document already says.
Does it work with any insurance carrier's EOB format?
Yes. Rather than relying on templates for specific carriers, each page is read visually by an AI model that locates the claim lines and figures wherever they appear on the page - so it works with United, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, Cigna, Kaiser, Medicare, and other formats without needing carrier-specific setup.
Does it work with a multi-page PDF?
Yes. Each page is rendered and read separately, all claim lines found across pages are merged into one table, and identifying details like patient name or claim number are picked up from whichever page prints them.
Is my EOB uploaded to a server?
Yes, and we say this plainly because most tools on this site run fully in your browser, but this one doesn't: each page image is sent to a secure AI service to read the layout and extract the claim data, since no fixed template can cover every carrier's format. Pages are used only to generate your result and are not stored afterward.
What if a field is misread or blank?
The AI reads exactly what's printed and leaves a field blank rather than guessing when it can't find a value. Always check figures against the original EOB before relying on them, especially for amounts you believe you owe.
Is this free, and is there a limit on documents?
Yes to both - it's free with no cap on how many EOBs you can decode. There's no account, no paywall, and no per-document metering.
