How does stacking two discounts work?
Stacked discounts apply one after the other, not added together. A 20% discount followed by a 10% discount on a $100 item gives $80, then 10% off $80 is $72, not $70 (as a flat 30% off would give). This tool calculates it the correct, sequential way.
Why is 20% off then 10% off not the same as 30% off?
Because the second discount is calculated on the already-discounted price, not the original price. Stacked percentage discounts are always slightly less generous than adding the percentages together, which is exactly why retailers often stack smaller discounts instead of offering one big one.
Can I enter a flat dollar discount instead of a percentage?
Yes, switch the toggle from % to $ and enter the flat amount taken off, the tool will calculate the final price and, if you're stacking, apply the second percentage discount on top of that.
